An open-source speech recognition model has reached quality levels that allow real-time transcription in typical office and call-center environments. The project, maintained by a coalition of research labs and companies, has been updated with larger training datasets and better streaming inference.

Developers can now integrate the model into their own applications without relying on proprietary APIs. Benchmarks show competitive accuracy for several languages, with the biggest gains in noisy environments. The team plans to release a smaller, faster variant for edge devices later this year.
